Thanks for the heads up. I've been trying to keep up with the slew of updates Wordpress has released recently. This including a cache system for the blog, that seems to have been having a bad hair day :).

I think everything should be back to normal now. Thanks for the heads up and all the best from Denver!

Great point! I think the manufacturing process for the Fibrex frames is such that rotting would be of little concern, although, I imagine that given bad enough conditions, involving constant wet conditions, the frames may not be the best option and a typical vinyl or other material may be the better option. In Denver, our climate is quite dry and this shouldn’t play any major role here. Seeing the window, you can see how this shouldn’t be a big issue. No in-depth study by a independent resource has been performed on this, to the best of my knowledge.
It’s also important to note that Andersen has stood behind this product in marketing and distribution. As the largest manufacturer of window products, should rotting occur, you couldn’t find a more ideal condition for buying a product from a company invested in standing behind it.

The Federal Tax Credit has certainly had an impact on the replacement window industry in 2010. While it has been in effect since 2009, many consumers have become aware of it this year due to more exposure in the market. As a San Antonio Window Replacementcompany, the Tax Credit has figured greatly into our sales equation. Most homeowners we visit with know about the credit and automatically ask that the windows we quote be tax credit compliant.

I believe that the Tax Credit is helping to enable more replacement window projects, but if consumers don't have money to spend, no tax credit will get them off of center. I am happy that the credit is in place, I like the stringent requirements for window performance that it requires, and I believe we will be better off for the work that it has created. My one worry is that it is creating a false economy with replacement windows. Once it expires in 2010, what then? Without the incentive of a tax credit out there, customers may pull back on projects. It is my hope that this is not the case, but we will have to see as we roll into 2011.

As awindow replacement company in San AntonioI know the challenges that come with the situation you have described above. Many consumers are faced with a serious time crunch these days, and the 2 hour presentation from 3 window companies can get downright annoying for the time pressed consumer. I often meet with people who are absolutely shell shocked by the time we get together because they have had to endure multiple "show and tell" meetings with window companies. Don't get me wrong, I want my chance to shine and I do believe that homeowners need to see the value of my windows and installation, but I can understand the frustration many people feel when buying replacement windows. The thing that many people in the window industry fail to realize is that today's consumer is more educated on what is available today, and they are looking for the bullet points, not the full novel. Rather than spend 2 hours browbeating homeowners on the wonders of our windows, we should provide resources and direction for the customer to go to research. The truth is after the salesman leaves the house, the homeowner gets on line and does their research anyway. The confident window replacement company will be able to spend less time trying to "sell" the customer and more time educating and providing solutions.

What are your thoughts on the Fibrex frame and its longevity? I know that it is a compressed wood shavings composite and it is molded with resins to keep the shavings bound together, but is there a concern long term about breakdown? What is being said about the window if there is exposure to moisture? Will the wood shavings start to rot? We sell windows in San Antonio TXand I am concerned that the moisture and humidity may cause problems with the Andersen 100 down the line. Besides that, it looks like a great product for the price and to have a name like Andersen on the window helps to insure its credibility in the market place.

I was surfing around and came across your blog page. I just wanted to let you know that it looks like your images are not loading onto the page leaving a bunch of broken images showing on that page. Just wanted to help one window company from another to make sure you are being well represented in your market. I hope this helps and good luck up there in Denver.
